Sustainability and community regeneration are very important to us at Tully Mill Restaurant. Nestled within the breathtaking Cuilcagh Lakelands Geopark, a UNESCO Global Geopark, we’re committed to playing our part in preserving our environment and supporting our local community. Here’s how we are doing just that.
Our menu features fresh, seasonal produce sourced from local suppliers including the kitchen garden at Florence Court, a nearby National Trust property. By choosing locally grown foods and minimising food miles, we’re reducing our environmental footprint and supporting local producers.
Our restaurant and holiday cottages create jobs in the local area, and we work closely with many local businesses, providing catering solutions for events.
We also work closely with our Geopark partners to promote sustainable tourism, encouraging visitors to explore and appreciate the natural beauty of the region.
Tully Mill Restaurant was once an 18th-Century water-powered corn mill on Florence Court Estate. The wheel was restored in May 2024 and will generate clean energy for our buildings by September 2024. This will reduce our reliance on non-renewable energy sources.
We’re dedicated to reducing our energy consumption by 10% in 2024 compared to 2023. Through mindful energy use and efficient practices, we’re working hard to lower our environmental impact.
We believe good food should be accessible to everyone. Our diverse menu caters to all dietary needs and preferences, ensuring no one is left out. By hosting unique events with local businesses, we bring our community together and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of our area.
Our onsite composting turns kitchen waste into nutrient-rich soil for our herb garden. We also provide recycling and composting bins in our cottages, encouraging our guests to join us in our sustainability efforts.
We’re proud of the steps we’ve taken towards sustainability, but we know there’s always more to do. Our ongoing initiatives and plans show our dedication to taking care of our environment, and to regenerating and supporting our local community at every opportunity.
